These terms cover the Wisp desktop application and the wispwriter.com website ("Wisp", "we", "us"). By downloading or using Wisp you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to frighten.
The free version
Wisp's free version is free forever, for personal and commercial writing alike. No account is required and none exists.
Wisp Pro licences
A Wisp Pro licence is a one-time purchase that permanently enables the Pro features of the app for you, the buyer. It is a personal licence: it covers you, on all of your machines, with no seat limit or activation. It is not a licence to redistribute; please don't publish or resell your key. Your email address is embedded in the key so that a leaked key is traceable.
The licence is perpetual. It never expires, and it does not depend on any server of ours continuing to exist.
Purchases and billing
All purchases are processed by Paddle.com as merchant of record. Paddle handles payment, applicable taxes, and receipts, and their buyer terms apply to the transaction. We never see your payment details.
Refunds are described in our refund policy: 14 days, no questions asked.
Your content
Your documents are yours, entirely. They are stored as plain Markdown files on your own disk. We claim no rights over anything you write with Wisp, we cannot access it, and we do not want to.
AI features
Wisp's AI features send text to whichever model endpoint you configure: a local model on your machine, or a remote provider using your own API key. That traffic is between you and your chosen provider, under that provider's terms. Wisp only ever sends text when you explicitly trigger an action, and shows you exactly what was sent.
Acceptable use
Don't use Wisp to break the law, and don't attempt to disrupt the website or the purchase flow. That's the whole list.
Warranty and liability
Wisp is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, and autosave and snapshots exist precisely because software fails, but we cannot promise it is free of defects. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Wisp is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing in them affects the statutory rights your local consumer law gives you.
Changes
If these terms change, the date above changes with them, and material changes will be noted on this page. Terms never change retroactively for a licence you already bought.
